Cookies Policy

Last updated: May 8, 2026 · Effective: May 8, 2026

Cookies and similar technologies help VoiGu work, remember your preferences, and understand how the Service is used. You're in control.

Introduction

This Cookies Policy explains how VoiGu, Inc. (“VoiGu,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) uses cookies and similar technologies on our website, and equivalent SDKs and identifiers in our mobile apps. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website you visit. They are widely used to make websites work, or work more efficiently, and to provide information to the site owners. Similar technologies — such as web beacons, pixels, local storage, and device identifiers — perform the same kinds of functions on the web and inside mobile apps.

Cookies can be session (deleted when you close your browser) or persistent (stored until expiry or deletion), and either first-party (set by VoiGu) or third-party (set by our service providers).

Cookie categories

Strictly necessary

Required for the website to function. They enable core features like signing in, keeping you signed in, and security. These cookies cannot be disabled.

Functional

Remember your preferences (language, theme, region, recently viewed courses) so you don't have to set them every time. Disabling these may make parts of the site less convenient.

Analytics & performance

Help us understand how visitors use the site — which pages are popular, where errors occur, how long people stay — so we can improve. We rely on aggregated, anonymized data, primarily through Firebase Analytics and Google Analytics 4.

Advertising & marketing

Help us measure the effectiveness of our advertising and limit the number of times you see an ad. VoiGu uses these only with your consent (where required) and does not sell personal information to advertisers.

Cookies we set

Here are examples of cookies VoiGu and our processors place. Names may change as we improve the Service; this list is illustrative rather than exhaustive.

First-party

  • vg_session — keeps you signed in for the duration of your visit. Strictly necessary. Session.
  • vg_locale — remembers your preferred language and region. Functional. 12 months.
  • vg_consent — stores your cookie consent choices. Strictly necessary. 12 months.
  • vg_theme — light or dark theme preference. Functional. 12 months.

Third-party

  • Google Firebase & GA4 — analytics and performance monitoring (_ga, _ga_*, _gid). Up to 24 months.
  • Stripe — fraud prevention on the checkout page (__stripe_*). Strictly necessary on payment pages.
  • YouTube — when an embedded video is played, in privacy-enhanced mode.

Third-party cookies

Some third parties may set their own cookies when you interact with their content embedded on our site (e.g., a video player or social share button). VoiGu does not control these cookies. Refer to those providers' privacy policies for details.

Mobile app SDKs & identifiers

Mobile apps don't use cookies in the traditional sense, but rely on similar technologies to deliver comparable functionality:

  • Local storage — for caching lessons, preferences, and offline content.
  • Firebase SDK — for authentication, real-time sync, push notifications, crash reporting, and analytics.
  • Apple IDFA / Google AAID — anonymous advertising identifiers, only used with your consent (App Tracking Transparency on iOS; Privacy Sandbox on Android).

You can control these in Settings → Privacyin the VoiGu app, and in your device's system-level privacy settings.

Managing your preferences

On the web, you can manage your cookie preferences at any time:

  • Use the Cookie preferences link in our website footer to update your consent.
  • Adjust your browser settings to block or delete cookies. Most browsers offer help under “Settings → Privacy.”
  • For analytics opt-out across the web, use the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

In the mobile app, manage analytics in Settings → Privacy → Analytics. Disabling analytics does not affect transactional or learning-data syncing.

Please note that blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent the website from working correctly.

Do Not Track & Global Privacy Control

Many browsers send a “Do Not Track” (DNT) signal or a Global Privacy Control (GPC)signal. Where applicable law requires us to honor these signals, we do. We treat a GPC signal as a request to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookies Policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology, regulation, or our operations. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. If changes are material, we'll let you know in-app or by email.
