Speak Spanish first. Gu meets you in the sentence.

What trips people up

Three Spanish frictions — named, then spoken.

Most apps hide these in a grammar tab. VoiGu puts them in the line you’re saying out loud.

  • Ser vs estar

Two verbs for “to be.” Soy is who you are or where you’re from. Estoy is how you are, or where something is right now. You feel the split in a real sentence, not a rule dump.

  • Gender and articles

El / la and un / una travel with the noun. You say the pair together — el baño, una mesa — so the article is part of the phrase, not a chart to memorize first.

  • Sounds you have to say

Rr, j, ñ, and the five short vowels. Silent flashcards won’t train them. Gu’s lessons are voice-first so you practice the shape of the word, then try it again.

How Gu practices with you

You say the line. Gu is there so you aren’t silent.

Spanish on VoiGu is a speaking loop: say a useful phrase out loud, and try the same café order again.

  1. 01

A phrase, not a word list

Lessons are built around things people say — “¿Dónde está…?”, “Quisiera un café”, “Soy de…” — so vocabulary arrives inside a turn you can reuse.

  2. 02

    Retry the same moment

The point is the next attempt at the same line, not a new pile of cards. Gu stays on the scene until the sentence feels less foreign in your mouth.

  3. 03

    Grammar as a helper

When ser and estar collide in one dialogue, we name the choice. We don’t pause the speaking path for a textbook chapter.

A first-week map

Four scenes to speak — not a fluency date.

This is a practice path for week one. It is not a promise of what you will “be able to do,” and it is not “conversational in three months.” Show up, say the line, come back tomorrow.

  1. 01

    Hello and your name

Hola. Me llamo… Mucho gusto. A short intro you can actually use at a door, a desk, or a table.

  2. 02

    Order a drink

Un café, por favor. Quisiera un agua. The articles and the polite ask live in the same breath.

  3. 03

    Ask where something is

¿Dónde está el baño? Location takes estar. One question, one verb choice, said out loud.

  4. 04

    Thank someone and leave

Gracias. Hasta luego. Close the scene so the lesson feels like a complete conversation turn.

A map for practice — not an outcome guarantee. How far you get depends on showing up, not on a countdown.

Who this is for

Three reasons people open Spanish on VoiGu.

  • A weekend trip

You want the café and the bathroom question in your mouth before you land — not a silent phrasebook in your pocket.

  • You understand more than you say

Heritage or classroom Spanish that went quiet. Voice practice first: say the lines you already recognize.

  • A few work lines

A Monday intro, a polite ask, a thank-you. Small, reusable turns — not a promise you’ll run a meeting in Spanish.

Spanish questions

Straight answers.

Spain or Latin America — does VoiGu split them?

No. There is one Spanish course; there are no separate Spain or Latin America versions.

Do I need grammar before I speak?

No. You speak from the first lesson. Grammar shows up when it helps the line — like ser vs estar inside “¿Dónde está…?”

Will I be conversational in three months?

We don’t promise timelines or fluency dates. Week one is a practice path: greet, order, ask where. How far you get depends on coming back.

What does Gu actually do in Spanish?

You practice with Gu. Say each line out loud, then try it again.
